National Kick Butts Day is on March 19 and the DuPage County Health Department is encouraging those who smoke to use this day as a kick off to quitting for good.

Choosing to quit is a great first step, but the journey is long and not easy for most. The DuPage County Health Department can help. The Health Department is sponsoring the Respiratory Health Association's Courage to Quit® six-session program which will support participants in reaching their smoke-free goals. The classes are available for all those who are ready to quit smoking and live longer, healthier lives.

Trained educators will provide class participants with information on addiction and withdrawal, avoiding triggers, managing cravings, and much more. Participants will also receive assistance in developing personalized quit plans that emphasize the importance of social support and nicotine withdrawal coping skills.

The Courage to Quit® classes are free and will offer two time slots 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on March 19, March 26, April 2, April 9, April 16 and April 30 at DuPage County Health Department, 111 N County Farm Rd, Wheaton.
