What foods does WIC provide?

Women and children may receive:

  • Cheese, tofu, or yogurt
  • Eggs
  • Fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Iron-fortified cereals
  • Juice
  • Legumes (dry peas, beans) or peanut butter
  • Milk (cow’s, lactose-free or soy)
  • Whole grain options
    • Brown rice
    • Oatmeal
    • Soft corn tortillas or whole wheat flour tortillas
    • Whole grain bread or buns
    • Bulgar

Women who are breastfeeding exclusively may also receive tuna fish or pink salmon, as well as extra calcium rich foods, juice, and protein rich options. Newborns who are not breastfeeding receive formula and, starting at 6 months of age, will receive infant cereal and infant baby food.
