Symptoms of Tuberculosis (TB) depend on where in the body the TB bacteria are growing. TB bacteria usually grow in the lungs. TB in the lungs may cause:

- Coughing up blood or sputum (phlegm from deep inside the lungs)
- Fatigue, fever, night sweats, loss of appetite
- Pain in the chest
- Shortness of breath
Children may have different symptoms, such as failure to thrive and lethargy/inactivity.
