Outpatient Fitness Restoration

The Outpatient Fitness Restoration program provides outpatient mental health treatment and fitness education to clients who are found by the court to be "unfit to stand trial" due to mental illness. A person may be found "unfit" if his or her mental or physical condition prevents them from understanding the nature and purpose of the court proceedings or assisting in their own defense.

Our program provides treatment with the goal of helping restore a client to be "fit to stand trial". Treatment may include counseling, case management, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Additionally, clients receive education on the court process.

Clients for this program are referred directly by the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Mental Health (IDHS/DMH) Forensics Bureau. Referrals sent by the state must also meet DuPage County Health Department eligibility, including DuPage County residency, and have Medicaid, Medicare, or be uninsured.
