COVID-19 Vaccine

What You Need to Know:

DCHD is offering the updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine to eligible children in the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program.

Childhood immunizations are offered at the Wheaton, Westmont, and Lombard Offices.

Childhood immunizations are available through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program for all children:

  1. Who do not have insurance
  2. With insurance that does not cover immunizations
  3. Who are Medicaid eligible
  4. American Indian or Alaska Native

Children whose health insurance covers the cost of the vaccinations are not eligible for VFC vaccines, even when a claim for the cost of the vaccine and its administration would be denied for payment by the insurance carrier because the plan's deductible had not been met.

Questions about the availability of specific childhood vaccines or clinic schedules should be directed to DCHD at 630-682-7400.

To find additional providers who offer vaccines through the Vaccines for Children Program, please visit the VFC Provider Search.

Individuals with private insurance who are interested in an updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine this fall, should connect with their healthcare provider or local retail pharmacy.

For those without health insurance or whose insurance does not cover all COVID-19 vaccination costs, visit www.vaccines.gov to find a Bridge Access program vaccine provider near you.
