The DuPage County Health Department’s Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response program works to ensure DuPage County is prepared to respond to public health emergencies. Examples of public health emergencies include infectious disease outbreaks, natural disasters, bioterrorism and other events that threaten our health.
A semi-centralized system exists with the Illinois Department of Public Health operating some programs, acting as an adviser on others, and delegating to the local health departments many of its duties.
The Population Health Unit is responsible for analyzing and reporting on health factors and outcomes to identify health needs and priorities of DuPage County residents.
