Board of Health MembersTerms

Public Board members are appointed for three years.

County Board members serve one-year terms.

Appointed By

The DuPage County Chair appoints members with the advice and consent of the County Board.

Compensation

The President receives $400 per month unless also serving in the role as a DuPage County elected official. Board members receive $200 per month. Elected officials do not receive compensation.

Qualifications

At least two members must be physicians licensed to practice medicine in Illinois and all its branches. At least one member must be a dentist licensed in Illinois. Two members must be members of the County Board. At least one member must have experience in the field of mental health.

Responsibilities

The Board of Health ensures that all state laws and county ordinances regarding the preservation of health are upheld through observation and enforcement. To this end, the Board of Health authorizes and executes any necessary health inspections and investigations in DuPage County.

The Board of Health also promulgates rules and regulations that set forth minimum standards for programs and performance. It is responsible for making health information readily available to the citizens of DuPage County. The DuPage County Board of Health strives to:
