Be Safe Riding In Cars

  1. Most car seats are designed to protect children under 40 pounds.
When children grow  out of their car seats, many people believe seat
belts should be used. Research has found that seat belts are
designed for adults, not for children.

  2. Booster seats are recommended for those under 80 pounds
or 4 feet 9 inches. Seat belts fit better and car rides are safer.

  3. All children under 12 years of age should ride in the back seat.
     The back seat is safer.

  4. People riding in the passenger side of the front should move the seat
back as far as possible. This makes the seat farther from the air bag.
Air bags are lifesavers when used with seat belts.

  5. Seat belts should ride low over the tops of the thighs and under the
hip bone. The lap belt should be snug and the shoulder strap should
     rest across the chest.

Remember Everyone needs to buckle up to travel safely.
