Women's Health Programs

Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (IBCCP)

IBCCP is available throughout Illinois, but the Health Department only serves clients who are residents of DuPage County. All uninsured women between the ages of 40 and 64 can receive free breast cancer screening, and uninsured women between 35 and 64 can receive free cervical cancer screenings. Younger women with symptoms also may qualify.

Even women who have already been diagnosed with cancer outside of the program may receive free or low-cost treatment through this program. Eligibility guidelines apply.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. It can be successfully treated when detected early. Routine mammograms and breast exams can detect cancer early.

Cervical cancer also is treatable if detected early. Often there are no symptoms so it is important for women to get screened regularly for cervical cancer.

Basic services in IBCCP offered include clinical breast exam, mammogram, pelvic exam and Pap test, all free of charge. Please give us a call for information at (630) 682-7400.

Illinois WISEWOMAN Program (IWP)

Illinois WISEWOMAN Program is designed to help women (IBCCP clients who meet income guidelines) to reduce their risk of heart disease through education and awareness.

WISEWOMAN offers free blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings, as well as information about heart disease, diabetes and other chronic diseases to eligible women ages 40 to 64 years old, who have insufficient insurance or have no insurance and live in participating counties, which includes DuPage County.

Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death among women.  By becoming aware of heart disease and its risk factors, women can stop heart disease. Eating healthy and being active contribute to healthy living. Quitting smoking is one of the most important steps you can take. For help, please the Illinois Tobacco Quitline at 1 (866) QUIT-YES.
