Walk the Line- A Substance Abuse Prevention and Decision Making Program

Grades 6-8


This program will explain to students why alcohol can be dangerous as well as provide strategies for making good decisions. Students will understand what the negative effects of alcohol can be and will practice decision making skills when it comes to peer-pressure.

This program also includes an activity using our Drunk Buster Goggles which simulate the effects of impairment from alcohol including; reduced alertness, slowed reaction time, confusion, visual distortion, alteration of depth and distance perception and double vision. Students will be asked to do various activities like catching a ball, walking a straight line and walking through cones while wearing the Drunk Buster Goggles. This activity will help students understand the effects of alcohol and how it can affect them.  

Student Learning Objectives:

  • List the negative effects of alcohol
  • List people in their lives that influence them
  • Come up with strategies for handling peer pressure
