Teen Parent Services
The Teen Parent Services Program is part of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) employment and training programs. It helps young parents under 20 who are TANF or KidCare Assist (Medicaid) recipients to stay in school, to get a high school diploma or GED Certificate.

Program Goals:

  • To assist young parents in getting information, services and skills needed to obtain and maintain mental and physical health for themselves and their child.
     
  • To encourage participants to plan for their future
     
  • To assist participants in removing barriers to obtaining education

Services Provided:

  • Assistance in completing high school or GED
     
  • Transportation Assistance
     
  • Bonuses/Rewards for monthly class attendance
     
  • Child Care Resources and Referrals (subsidized/low cost or free)
     
  • Family planning assistance
     
  • Parent-child Activities

Eligibility

  • Pregnant or Parenting Teen, under age 20
     
  • Does not have a high school diploma or GED
     
  • Receives Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) or KidCare (Medicaid) Assist or is enrolled in FCM or WIC at the DuPage County Health Department.

Healthy Families DuPage
Healthy Families DuPage (HFD) is an assessment and home visitation service designed to support pregnant and parenting teens.

Program Goals
Our goals include helping parents successfully manage stresses and strains of family life, supporting effective parent-child interactions and promoting healthy child development.

Services
The program provides a comprehensive assessment of family needs and strengths, referrals to other community services (e.g., Teen parent support groups, food pantries, and home visitation services for eligible participants.

Eligibility
  • A pregnant or parenting teen, under age 20
     
  • Baby must be less than 2 weeks old
     
  • DuPage County resident

Free

How to Receive Services
Call the Health Department, Central Intake 682-7979 ext. 7676. We see participants either in Prenatal Clinic or can arrange a home visit
