The DuPage County Health Department operates an environmental testing laboratory at the 111 North County Farm Road location in Wheaton, Illinois. The general public may bring in water samples to be tested. The samples are tested for total coliform and nitrate that are the standards the State of Illinois has set for private wells. There is also limited chemical analysis available. The fee for both tests is $20. A sterilized sample bottle and form may be picked up at the nearest Public Health Center. Our other PHCs are located at 1111 West Lake Street in Addison 630-625-3325, 1111 East Jackson Street in Lombard 630-625-3350, and 422 West Cass Avenue in Westmont 630-969-7030. Instructions on how to collect the sample are on the back of the report form. Ideally the sample should be tested on the same day it is collected. If you are taking your sample to one of our other sites listed you need to have it there before noon. Test results will be mailed. No samples that are greater than 30 hours will be tested.
