Resources for Schools

Schools offer a great opportunity to promote healthy eating and physical activity among our children and adolescents. Children spend the majority of their day in a school setting, sometimes consuming 2 meals a day at school. Additionally, research shows healthier students not only perform better on tests; they are more focused in class, behave better, are absent less, and have higher self-esteem.

The Data

One in seven (14.4%) kindergarten, sixth grade, and ninth grade public school students in DuPage County were obese in 2015-2016. 42% of those obese children had elevated blood pressure. For a full report of the latest DuPage County data, click here.
