Two DuPage County Health Department staff members in Mental Health Services honored by community groups

Lisa Salvadore and Nancy Larson, staff members in Mental Health Services at the DuPage County Health Department, have received community awards for their work in DuPage County.

Salvadore, of the Schaumburg area, was named "Advocate of the Year" by the DuPage County National Alliance on Mental Illness. Lisa was honored this spring during NAMI's Spring Benefit in Glen Ellyn.

The NAMI executive director said, "You have been selected because of your strong advocacy for your clients. We know that you provide countless hours of support and advocacy for your clients, finding resources for them when others would have given up. Your understanding of the problems facing individuals with mental illness, your compassion as well as your advocacy and support has improved the lives of individuals with mental illness."

The executive director added, "We applaud you for your efforts."

Larson, of Downers Grove, was nominated for a MVP value leader award late in 2008 by Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. "Being nominated for the MVP award is a high honor at the hospital and you deserve recognition," said the co-chairs of the MVP Committee.

They added, "Advocate's core values for service excellence performance standards are equality, compassion, excellence, partnership and stewardship...We appreciate that the sense of pride you have in the work you do shows through to our patients, their families and your co-workers."

"We couldn't be moving from good to great without committed individuals like you."

Nancy was honored during a banquet earlier this year.
