The DuPage County Health Department announces novel H1N1 vaccination clinics for senior population

Seniors can call (800) 662-9555 for a H1N1 vaccination appointment

While individuals covered by Medicare were not included in the initial groups recommended to get the earliest doses of H1N1 vaccine, they are now eligible to be vaccinated. The DuPage County Health Department is encouraging these individuals to call (800) 662-9555 to make a vaccination appointment.

The DuPage County Health Department is working with Dominick's and Jewel-Osco Pharmacies and local community partners to host senior H1N1 vaccination clinics throughout DuPage County. The first of these will be:

  • Jan.13 Addison Park District Community Senior Center - 120 E Oak St., Addison
  • Jan. 15 Naperville Park District Community Center - 305 W Jackson St., Naperville
  • Jan. 21 Westmont Park District Community Center - 75 E Richmond, Westmont

For a list of H1N1 vaccination sites as well as additional information on novel H1N1 flu, visit www.protectdupage.org.

The DuPage County Health Department's goal is to distribute H1N1 vaccine as quickly as possible to reduce and prevent disease activity. Collaborating with community partners will create easier access for DuPage County Seniors to the H1N1 vaccine.

In addition to getting vaccinated, county residents can stay healthy and limit the spread of flu by remembering the 3 Cs:

CLEAN - wash your hands frequently to prevent the spread of germs.
COVER - your cough and sneeze with a tissue or sleeve, not your hand.
CONTAIN - contain your germs. Stay home if you are sick.

The supply of novel H1N1 vaccine has greatly increased and is now available to everyone regardless of age. To locate a convenient location near you, all residents are encouraged to use the Flu Shot Locator found at www.protectdupage.org and www.flu.gov. You can also check with your health care provider.
