Senior Citizens urged to get flu shots at Senior Fair

DUPAGE COUNTY--The DuPage County Health Department is encouraging DuPage County Senior Citizens to get their annual flu shots on Friday, Oct. 8, at the Senior Fair at the DuPage County Fairgrounds, 2015 Manchester Road, Wheaton. The Senior Fair is open 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Flu shots at the Senior Fair are by appointment only and Senior Citizens should call (630) 682-7400 to make appointments.

Medicare, Medicaid and public aid will be accepted at the Senior Fair. Seniors may also pay with credit card, cash or check. The cost is $27 at the Senior Fair. Caregivers for Seniors may also get their annual flu shots at the Senior Fair for $27 and appointments are necessary.

The annual flu shot this year contains vaccine against H1N1 influenza, as well as two other strains of flu.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Protection recommends flu shots for everyone over six months of age this year.
