FEMA ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE TO COUNTY RESIDENTS IMPACTED BY RECENT FLOODING

DuPage County residents whose homes were damaged as a result of recent storms and flooding can now apply for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
 
Residents who experienced damage to their home can call the toll-free number 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), TTY 1-800-462-7585, or register online at www.disasterassistance.gov. The application process takes 15-20 minutes and can be conducted in virtually any language. The hotline is staffed from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
 
Once a case is opened, an inspector will follow up in 5-7 days.  FEMA assistance is generally provided in 15-30 days.
 
Homeowners or renters may be able to get assistance with:

  • Personal property loss;
  • Utilities;
  • Vehicle damages;
  • Moving and storage;
  • Medical and dental losses related to water damage, such as lost medicine or medical equipment; and
  • Supplemental food assistance.

FEMA has opened a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in DuPage County, at the Lisle Police Department, 5040 Lincoln Avenue.  The DRC is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, until further notice.
