What is Plaque?
PLAQUE DEFINED:
A sticky, colorless layer of harmful
bacteria.
Sticks to teeth especially near the gum line and between teeth.
It continually forms on our teeth and gums.
If plaque is not removed, it may become hard and is called calculus (tartar).
Calculus can only be removed by the dentist or a dental hygienist. Plaque and
tartar will harm your teeth and gums if it is not cleaned off regularly.
ACTIVITIES
1. Teach plaque poem.
2. Do plaque worksheet. Color sad tooth to show germs and food particles. Place
cotton balls with glue on tooth with plaque to show how plaque is fuzzy. Use
double stick tape to show how plaque is sticky. Leave clean tooth white.
