Parent And Child Achievements With ICPS
As Early As Age 4 ICPS Kids:
- Are sensitive to their own and other's
feelings.
- Can think of more than one way to
solve a problem.
- Can anticipate the consequences of
their acts upon themselves and others.
- Are aware of good times and not good
times to act.
- Can better cope with frustration when
they cannot obtain their wish.
"By the time your child is four, you've
probably already told him a thousand times what to do and not to do. Is
the thousand and first time going to make a difference? It's time to try
something new." Myrna B. Shure, author

PROBLEM SOLVING
QUESTIONS
ICPS Talk
To guide your child to solve a problem, ask:
1. What happened?
2. How do you feel?
3. How does the other person feel?
4. What else could you do to solve this problem? (think of as many ways
as you can)
5. Which idea is a good idea?
6. Are you going to try that idea now or later?
Problem solving can be fun!

Problem Solving Games
WHAT ELSE? GAME
There is more than ONE way to solve a problem.
We don’t have to give up if our first idea doesn’t work.
Just ask “WHAT ELSE could you do?”
The object of the game is to think of as many different ideas as you
can!
IF/THEN GAME
Once you have all your ideas, next play the IF/THEN game.
Think about if you do, then what might happen next?
Then think about which ideas are good ideas and which ones are not good
ideas.
Decide which of the good ideas you would like to try now.
