THE PROBLEMS

In 2000 an estimated:
182,800 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed.
41,200 deaths will be due to breast cancer.
12,800 cases of cervical cancer will be diagnosed.
4,600 women will die of cervical cancer.
Breast cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths in women.
All women are at risk for breast cancer regardless of age, race, ethnicity 
or sexual orientation.
28,000,000 Americans are affected by osteoporosis, 80% of them 
women.

IN DU PAGE COUNTY

120,659 (35.7%) women do not perform monthly breast self-exams
33, 917 (17.9%) women over 40 years have never had a mammogram
17,913 (5.3%) women have never had a pap test
15,915 (14.1%) adults have osteoporosis, 13,955 are women over 60 years of age
