Great Start

Better Birth Outcomes (Great Start) is a program that provides prenatal health education to eligible pregnant women. The goal is to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

The prenatal client will be partnered with a registered nurse early in her pregnancy and will receive monthly contacts and at least one home visit per trimester. These visits may be held in the WIC clinic, your doctor’s office, or your home. Contacts and home visits will continue through six weeks after the baby is born. The nurse will provide education on pregnancy and childbirth, prenatal nutrition and WIC services. In addition the nurse can make referrals to community resources and assist with access to a health care provider. In DuPage County the program works with the Family Case Management program to provide more intensive home visiting services. Better Birth Outcomes (Great Start) is FREE to all eligible women.
