Senior residents may ‘Walk, Stroll or Roll’
With Walk DuPage on Oct. 29 in Carol Stream
DuPage County seniors, family members and friends are invited to
celebrate better health by taking part in the Walk DuPage: Pathways to
Health “Senior Walk, Stroll, and Roll” at 9 a.m. on Oct. 29 at Armstrong
Park in Carol Stream.
The event features demonstrations of stretching exercises such as Tai
Chi and Yoga geared to older adults, regardless of physical ability. The
participants are then invited to walk, stroll or roll their wheelchairs
around the lake at Armstrong Park. Certificates of Completion will be
given to all participants. The event is free, but registration is
encouraged.
The event includes a visit from “McGruff the Crime Stopping Dog” who
will be on hand to cheer on participants. Following the walk, the Carol
Stream Park District office will offer apple cider, coffee and light
refreshments, as well as a beanbag toss for various prizes.
The Carol Stream Police Department and the DuPage County Health
Department will provide free information for residents to help older
adults learn more about staying active and healthy.
“An important goal for our community has been to provide options for a
better quality of life for older residents,” said Bette Lawrence-Water,
Walk DuPage coordinator. The event celebrates the close of the
successful first phase of Walk DuPage and emphasizes the importance of
staying active, regardless of physical ability.
