DuPage County Health Department offers to expedite school physicals
and immunizations in Katrina aftermath
WHEATON ― In continuing with the County’s commitment to helping those in
need, the DuPage County Health Department is partnering with the DuPage
County Board and the DuPage County Regional Office of Education to
assist those families and children arriving from states affected by the
devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina.
“DuPage County, and the rest of the nation, is extending its assistance
to the victims of this horrible tragedy,” said Linda Kurzawa, President
of the DuPage County Board of Health. “The County will remain ready to
offer any and all assistance necessary should we be called upon in the
future.”
“The Health Department will help in any way possible,” said Kurzawa.
Services may include immunizations and referrals to other community
providers to help children who need to attend school while their
communities recover from the effects of the hurricane. Mental health
services provided by the Health Department and other community providers
will also be available to those in need, said Kurzawa.
The Health Department provides immunizations to children and adults
through its four Public Health Centers in Wheaton, Westmont, Addison and
Lombard. To obtain clinic schedules or a referral to a community
healthcare provider, call (630) 682-7979, ext. 7676.
The Health Department is also supporting the request by DuPage County
Board Chairman Robert Schillerstrom that DuPage County residents assist
those in need by contributing to the American Red Cross by visiting
