Medical And Dental Coverage
The County offers two choices of medical coverage, a Participating Provider Plan (PPO) or an HMO.
The HMO plan provides 100% coverage and includes a comprehensive physician network, prescription and
vision benefits. The PPO plan provides prescription and vision benefits.
Sick Leave
DuPage County recognizes that employees may occasionally be absent because of illness or injury.
Sick leave is accrued for each full month of service based on a scale of length of service.
For example, after 1 year of service an employee would accumulate 6 days.
Vacation Benefits
DuPage County recognizes the importance of family and personal time away from the office.
The County provides employees with paid vacation time based on the number of hours worked and
length of continuous service. New employees receive 12 days of vacation during their first year
of employment. Vacation benefits increase based on years of service
Holiday Benefits
The County provides 11 paid holidays (listed below) per year.
Each employee also receives 3 personal days at the beginning of the year.
New employees are given a prorated amount of personal days based upon their hire date.

Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF)
DuPage County provides employees and their family's income protection in the event of disability,
retirement or death. Generally, each employee contributes 4.5% of his or her gross salary to the fund.
DuPage County also contributes to the fund. An employee is eligible to receive retirement benefits
at age 55 with 8 years of service.
Deferred Compensation
DuPage County encourages employees to save for retirement by investing in tax-deferred accounts.
Deferred compensation plans allow employees to do so through payroll deductions.
The County has several plans to meet individual needs
Flexible Benefits
Flexible benefits allow an employee to participate in the benefit programs they feel they need.
In some cases they may waive coverage and receive a credit for the benefits they do not need.
This credit may be used to purchase additional benefits or be taken as cash
Spending Accounts
Spending Accounts are designed to reimburse expenses not covered by other benefit plans.
Waiving other benefits can fund these accounts. Health Spending Accounts provide tax-free
reimbursement for health care expenses. Dependent Care Spending Accounts provide tax-free
reimbursement for child or qualified adult dependent care expenses.
Life Insurance
DuPage County offers employees financial security through a group Life Insurance Program.
Employees are provided with a $25,000 term life policy and a $25,000 accidental death and
dismemberment policy at no cost to the employee.
Additional Benefits
Credit Union
Employees and their families are eligible to enroll in the Employees' Credit
Union. Some services provided include: Checking and Savings Accounts, Car
and Personal Loans, Holiday Accounts, Illinois State License sticker sales,
Travelers Cheques, Money Orders, and more.
Tuition Reimbursement
Full-time employees are eligible to participate in this program after having
completed 6 months of continuous employment. The amount available for
reimbursement is a maximum of $3,000 per year, and coursework must be
work-related.
Employee Assistance Program
Creative Care Management (CCM) is a free and confidential service available
to employees and their family members who are experiencing some type of
personal problem. CCM provides professional guidance to help
identify practical solutions for everyday problems.
