If you come to our Prenatal
Clinics, we can do the initial assessment there. If not, we can arrange
to come to your house or meet at another place (e.g., McDonald’s).
Also, if you are eligible for home visitation services, our Family
Support Worker will make arranges to meet with you. |
| 3. How do I know if I would qualify for
services? |

A trained staff will spend
about 30-60 minutes talking to you about what is going on in your life
and how it will affect the baby once its born. She will then be able to
make recommendations and give you referrals to other appropriate
services, including Healthy Families Home Visitation services |
| 4. Who will know what I tell you? |

Only who you allow us to tell.
We believe in strict confidentially. |
| 5. How often do you see me? |
|
The Family Assessment Worker
will only see you one time. The Family Support Worker will arrange to
see you on a weekly basis at first, but then arranged depending on your
situation. |
| 6. How long will I receive services? |
|
The Healthy Families program
can visit you up to when your child is five years old, but you can
voluntarily refuse services at any time |
| 7. What additional services do you offer? |
|
We offer referrals to a
variety of community services such as support groups, car seat programs,
food pantries, GED programs, Teen Parent Services, immunization/ well
child clinics, KidCare insurance for children and parenting classes. |
| 8. What does the Family Support Worker do
on a home visit? |
|
Family Support Worker first
takes time to talk to you about what is going on in your life and with
your baby, and discusses how to best solve any problems. Then they talk
about child development, positive parenting skills and how to have
healthy parent-child relationships. |
| 9. What does the Family Support Worker do
on a home visit? |
|
A willingness to learn and an
open mind. |
| 10. Is this program the same as a Public
Health Nurse? |
|
No, this is in addition to the
nurse, but we work together with your nurse to provide you with the
best, most comprehensive services. |
