Prevention Leadership Team participates in 2015 Summit on Heroin

Wed April 8, 2015

The 2015 Community Summit on Heroin is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon Friday (April 10) at the Edward Hospital Athletic and Events Center, 55 Phelps Ave., Romeoville. The location is the former Romeoville Athletic and Event Center.

This year's event will focus on "Action Strategies" in the public health response to heroin and drug overdose epidemics.

The DuPage County Health Department and the DuPage County Prevention Leadership Team (PLT) are proud to be participating in this important community endeavor. The PLT will have a resource table and everyone is invited to stop by and learn more about the PLT and important myth-busting information on teens and drug use.

The PLT will also be distributing information on the Health Department's very successful RxBOX Program, which is a county-wide prescription take-back initiative that aims to reduce the misuse of prescription medications which has been linked to heroin use.

Approximately 30 organizations will be participating in the Summit on Heroin. Families, public officials, law enforcement, health care providers, educators and the general public are encouraged to attend. Registration is not required, but persons planning to attend are encouraged to sign up at www.herohelpsevent.com.
