Deadline approaching for affordable health insurance; small business forum on Feb. 2

Thu January 22, 2015

DuPage County residents are reminded that there is still time to get affordable health insurance before the Feb. 15, 2015, deadline for individuals and families and there is still time to get free help from the DuPage County Health Department.

The second open enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act ends on Feb. 15, but there are plenty of opportunities to get information and free assistance through the Enroll DuPage initiative.

The place to start is the Enroll DuPage website, www.enrolldupage.org, where you will find a comprehensive list of enrollment events where free assistance will be offered. You will also find a toll free phone number, (888) 724-0077, which you can call to make an appointment to meet with a Navigator or In-Person Counselor and get free enrollment help.

Don't delay. Make an appointment to get answers to your questions and free enrollment assistance, whether you are renewing your insurance or looking for a new health insurance plan, which may qualify for financial assistance. Information is also available about Medicaid and there is no enrollment period for Medicaid. Residents are also reminded that health insurance is now required to avoid paying a fine of $325 or 2 percent of income (whichever is greater) when you file your income taxes.
