GREENTOWN CONFERENCE WILL BUILD FOUNDATION FOR HEALTHIER COMMUNITIES

DUPAGE COUNTY-DuPage County leaders and residents who are interested in creating healthy and sustainable communities are invited to attend  the GreenTown Conference on April 24-25 at the Hotel Arista in Naperville.
 
Keynote speakers are Mayor Mick Cornett of Oklahoma City, who was the 2010 Public Official of the Year for his visionary infrastructure changes that created a healthier and economically prosperous city, and Mark Fenton, host of "America's Walking" on PBS.

Conference highlights:

·        April 24 from 3:45 p.m. to 6 p.m.: A "Nutrition and Farm to School Summit" pre-conference with resources and opportunities in Northern Illinois.


·        April 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Mayor Cornett and Fenton speak on building healthy and sustainable communities. Dr. Charles Hillman from the University of Illinois, Dr. Jamie F. Chriqui, University of Illinois at Chicago, and Dr. Darla Castelli from the University of Texas, Paul Zientarski, Naperville School District 203 will share the latest evidence on the impact obesity has on learning and share tools to reverse the obesity trend. Breakout sessions on Wellness in Schools are also planned.
