HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS CAN LEARN ABOUT PREVENTING CHILDHOOD OBESITY

Healthcare providers are invited to learn about preventing and treating childhood obesity on May 14, 2014, from 7 am -11 am at Medinah Shriners in Addison. 

"Strategies for Pediatric Obesity Prevention and Control" Summit is free and is intended for healthcare professionals who work with children. Continuing Medical Education credits are available. Registration is at 7 a.m. with the program from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and a local Resource Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Healthcare providers, particularly physicians and their staff members, will learn more about how to treat and prevent childhood obesity. Specifically, providers will learn how to communicate effectively across cultures, collaborate across disciplines, and about ways to be advocates in their communities. Local clinical and community resources for the treatment of obesity will be on hand to explain their programs and answer questions.
